A "make dist" is not supported. So, it makes no sense to have pure "make
dist" related stuff in the Makefile.am.

The previous cache manager support used a single souce file
(cache_manager.c) which included an implementation header (cache_.h).
This required the use of specialized include paths to find the right
header file. Change this to include a generic implementation header
(cacheimpl.h) in specialized source files.
Use the following directories and files:
* bsps/shared/cache
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/shared/cache
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/@RTEMS_BSP_FAMILY/start/cache.c

Define __INSIDE_RTEMS_BSD_TCPIP_STACK__ in the network interface driver
source files to avoid some build system magic.

A speciality of the RTEMS build system was the make preinstall step. It
copied header files from arbitrary locations into the build tree. The
header files were included via the -Bsome/build/tree/path GCC command
line option.
This has at least seven problems:
* The make preinstall step itself needs time and disk space.
* Errors in header files show up in the build tree copy. This makes it
hard for editors to open the right file to fix the error.
* There is no clear relationship between source and build tree header
files. This makes an audit of the build process difficult.
* The visibility of all header files in the build tree makes it
difficult to enforce API barriers. For example it is discouraged to
use BSP-specifics in the cpukit.
* An introduction of a new build system is difficult.
* Include paths specified by the -B option are system headers. This
may suppress warnings.
* The parallel build had sporadic failures on some hosts.
This patch removes the make preinstall step. All installed header
files are moved to dedicated include directories in the source tree.
Let @RTEMS_CPU@ be the target architecture, e.g. arm, powerpc, sparc,
etc. Let @RTEMS_BSP_FAMILIY@ be a BSP family base directory, e.g.
erc32, imx, qoriq, etc.
The new cpukit include directories are:
* cpukit/include
* cpukit/score/cpu/@RTEMS_CPU@/include
* cpukit/libnetworking
The new BSP include directories are:
* bsps/include
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/include
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/@RTEMS_BSP_FAMILIY@/include
There are build tree include directories for generated files.
The include directory order favours the most general header file, e.g.
it is not possible to override general header files via the include path
order.
The "bootstrap -p" option was removed. The new "bootstrap -H" option
should be used to regenerate the "headers.am" files.

Since the <tm27.h> is highly BSP-dependent and used only by the tm27
test program we must provide this header file for each BSP. Without the
preinstall build target each header file must have a unique source
header file.

This is necessary to add tests that use the cache manager. For example
to get better estimates of worst-case timings.

Add a CPU counter interface to allow access to a free-running counter.
It is useful to measure short time intervals. This can be used for
example to enable profiling of critical low-level functions.
Add two busy wait functions rtems_counter_delay_ticks() and
rtems_counter_delay_nanoseconds() implemented via the CPU counter.

PR 1917/bsps
* Makefile.am, console/uart.c: Modifications to add dynamic tables for
libchip serial drivers.
| |
* Makefile.am, preinstall.am: Added generic interrupt support modules.
* include/bsp.h: Define BSP_FEATURE_IRQ_EXTENSION.
* startup/bspstart.c, network/network.c: Interrupt support changes.
* console/uart.c: Fixed warnings.
| |
| |
* Makefile.am, preinstall.am: Use shared tm27.h stub.
* include/tm27.h: Removed.
| |
* Makefile.am: Eliminate bsp.am. Build startup files as side-effect
of building libbspstart.a, using automake-rules.
| |
* Makefile.am: Eliminate *_SOURCES.
| |
* Makefile.am: Move noinst_LIBRARIES = libbsp.a before its
components.
| |
* Makefile.am: Cleanup ../../shared/include/bootcard.h handling.
| |
* Makefile.am, configure.ac, console/uart.c, startup/bspstart.c: Use
standardized bsp_cleanup() which can optionally print a message, poll
for user to press key, and call bsp_reset(). Using this eliminates
the various bsp_cleanup() implementations which had their own
implementation and variety of string constants.
* startup/bspclean.c: Removed.
| |
* Makefile.am, startup/linkcmds: Use top level shared
bsp_get_work_area() implementation.
| |
* Makefile.am, configure.ac, startup/bspstart.c: Split out
bsp_get_work_area() into its own file and user BSP Framework to
perform more initialization. Use same shared implementation as
edb7312 and csb336.
| |
* Makefile.am: Rework to avoid .rel files.
| |
* Makefile.am, include/bsp.h, startup/bspstart.c: Moved most of the
remaining CPU Table fields to the Configuration Table. This included
pretasking_hook, predriver_hook, postdriver_hook, idle_task,
do_zero_of_workspace, extra_mpci_receive_server_stack,
stack_allocate_hook, and stack_free_hook. As a side-effect of this
effort some multiprocessing code was made conditional and some style
clean up occurred.
| |
* Makefile.am: Add abort.rel since it is now in the BSP shared source,
not in score/cpu.
| |
* Makefile.am, console/lpc22xx_uart.h: Remove warnings, cleanup and do
not build SPARC code accidentally referenced in Makefile.am.
| |
* Makefile.am: Tinkering to reduce .text size of minimum executable
from ~64K to ~47K.
* Renamed startup/exit.c to startup/bspclean.c
* startup/bspclean.c: New file.
* startup/exit.c: Removed.
| |
* Makefile.am: Remove reference to ../../shared/main.c.
| |
* Makefile.am: Include preinstall.am
* Makefile.am, README, bsp_specs, configure.ac,
console/lpc22xx_uart.h, console/uart.c, include/bsp.h,
network/network.c: New (Initial submission).
