A period is in expired ${../glossary/state:/term} if an
${../glossary/interval:/term} is set and a
${../glossary/deadline:/term} has passed while the current
${../glossary/job:/term} is still executing.
A period enters expired ${../glossary/state:/term} when the execution of the
current ${../glossary/job:/term} passes over the next
${../glossary/deadline:/term} -- no matter whether this is the ideal end
${../glossary/deadline:/term} of the current or any other
${../glossary/interval:/term}. A period
leaves expired ${../glossary/state:/term} whenever the ${../if/period:/name}
directive (not using ${../if/period-status-define:/name} as value for
parameter ${../if/period:/params[1]/name}) is called.
