* rtems: Improve semaphore create error checksSebastian Huber2021-03-161-6/+4
| | | | | | Do not mix checks for different error indicators (RTEMS_NOT_DEFINED and RTEMS_INVALID_NUMBER). This simplifies the specification of rtems_semaphore_create().
* rtems: Require RTEMS_PRIORITY for MrsP semaphoresSebastian Huber2021-03-161-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | MrsP semaphores are a generalization of the priority ceiling semaphores for SMP configurations. Priority ceiling semaphores are required to use the priority task wait queue discipline. Require this discipline also for MrsP semaphores. Close #4347.
* score: Remove _Objects_Open()Sebastian Huber2021-02-241-4/+2
| | | | | Use the type safe _Objects_Open_u32() instead. Return the object identifier to enforce a common usage pattern.
* rtems: Canonicalize Doxygen @file commentsSebastian Huber2020-12-021-2/+3
| | | | | | Use common phrases for the file brief descriptions. Update #3706.
* rtems: Remove RTEMS_MP_NOT_CONFIGURED errorSebastian Huber2020-06-181-5/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Some objects can be created with a local or global scope in a multiprocessing network. In non-multiprocessing configurations setting the scope to local or global had no effect since such a system can be viewed as a multiprocessing network with just one node. One and all nodes is the same in such a network. However, if multiprocessing was configured, creation of a global object in a single node network resulted in an RTEMS_MP_NOT_CONFIGURED error. Remove this error condition for symmetry to the non-multiprocessing setup. This is in line with the task affinity behaviour in SMP systems. Update #4005.
* doxygen: Switch @brief and @ingroupSebastian Huber2020-04-281-1/+2
| | | | This order change fixes the Latex documentation build via Doxygen.
* Canonicalize config.h includeSebastian Huber2020-04-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Use the following variant which was already used by most source files: #ifdef HAVE_CONFIG_H #include "config.h" #endif
* rtems: Fix MPCI initializationSebastian Huber2020-01-021-8/+1
| | | | Update #2408.
* rtems: Optimize semaphore control blockSebastian Huber2019-12-111-16/+27
| | | | | | | Move variant, discipline, and global information to flags stored in a node pointer of active semaphores. Update #3833.
* score: Static Objects_Information initializationSebastian Huber2018-12-141-0/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | Statically allocate the objects information together with the initial set of objects either via <rtems/confdefs.h>. Provide default object informations with zero objects via librtemscpu.a. This greatly simplifies the workspace size estimate. RTEMS applications which do not use the unlimited objects option are easier to debug since all objects reside now in statically allocated objects of the right types. Close #3621.
* rtems: Move internal structures to semdata.hSebastian Huber2018-11-121-0/+1
| | | | Update #3598.
* score: Initialize thread queue context earlySebastian Huber2016-12-021-0/+1
| | | | | | | | Initialize thread queue context early preferably outside the critical section. Remove implicit _Thread_queue_Context_initialize() from _Thread_Wait_acquire().
* score: Introduce thread resource count methodsSebastian Huber2016-11-031-1/+1
| | | | | This makes it easier to conditionally enable/disable the thread resource count usage.
* rtems: Fix binary semaphore resource countSebastian Huber2016-11-031-4/+1
| | | | | | Binary semaphores (not simple binary semaphores) maintain the resource count since 8797c76addf22a2f0ffc3717ff977695e35b9b0b. Do this also for initially locked binary semaphores.
* score: Introduce Thread_Scheduler_control::homeSebastian Huber2016-11-021-2/+2
| | | | | | | | Replace Thread_Scheduler_control::control and Thread_Scheduler_control::own_control with new Thread_Scheduler_control::home. Update #2556.
* score: Introduce Thread_queue_Lock_contextSebastian Huber2016-09-081-1/+1
| | | | | | Introduce Thread_queue_Lock_context to contain the context necessary for thread queue lock and thread wait lock acquire/release operations to reduce the Thread_Control size.
* score: Introduce map priority scheduler operationSebastian Huber2016-06-221-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | Introduce map/unmap priority scheduler operations to map thread priority values from/to the user domain to/from the scheduler domain. Use the map priority operation to validate the thread priority. The EDF schedulers use this new operation to distinguish between normal priorities and priorities obtain through a job release. Update #2173. Update #2556.
* rtems: Rework RTEMS API to SuperCore prioritySebastian Huber2016-06-221-32/+50
| | | | | Use same structure as POSIX API for thread priority conversion to/from SuperCore.
* rtems: Fix rtems_semaphore_create()Sebastian Huber2016-06-161-0/+4
| | | | | Destroy the thread queue in case of a priority ceiling violation, otherwise the SMP profiling data gets corrupted.
* rtems: Simplify rtems_semaphore_create()Sebastian Huber2016-06-071-132/+113
| | | | | Remove superfluous includes. Use one attribute compare for each semaphore variant. Text size drops by 10% on PowerPC due to this.
* rtems: Fix semaphore field nameSebastian Huber2016-05-301-2/+2
|
* rtems: Move MrsP semaphore operationsSebastian Huber2016-05-301-1/+1
| | | | | Move MrsP semaphore operations to a less prominent location. Fix field name.
* score: Rework CORE inherit priority mutexSebastian Huber2016-05-301-20/+15
| | | | | Provide dedicated seize and surrender methods for inherit priority mutexes. This eliminates CORE_mutex_Attributes.
* score: Rework CORE priority ceiling mutexSebastian Huber2016-05-301-13/+28
| | | | | Rework seize and surrender methods to use CORE_ceiling_mutex_Control. This eliminates CORE_mutex_Disciplines.
* score: Add CORE mutex variantsSebastian Huber2016-05-301-27/+32
| | | | | | | | Add CORE_recursive_mutex_Control and CORE_ceiling_mutex_Control to avoid the run-time evaluation of attributes to figure out how a particular mutex methods should behave. Start with the no protocol variants. This eliminates the CORE_MUTEX_DISCIPLINES_FIFO and CORE_MUTEX_DISCIPLINES_PRIORITY disciplines.
* score: Simplify CORE mutexSebastian Huber2016-05-301-21/+22
| | | | | Remove superfluous support for simple binary semaphores. With this we can get rid of the CORE_MUTEX_NESTING_BLOCKS variant.
* score: Add semaphore variantsSebastian Huber2016-05-301-16/+15
|
* score: Add Status_Control for all APIsSebastian Huber2016-05-261-15/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | Unify the status codes of the Classic and POSIX API to use the new enum Status_Control. This eliminates the Thread_Control::Wait::timeout_code field and the timeout parameter of _Thread_queue_Enqueue_critical() and _MPCI_Send_request_packet(). It gets rid of the status code translation tables and instead uses simple bit operations to get the status for a particular API. This enables translation of status code constants at compile time. Add _Thread_Wait_get_status() to avoid direct access of thread internal data structures.
* score: Use constant for maximum count of CORE semaSebastian Huber2016-03-291-1/+0

* score: Remove Thread_queue_Queue::operations fieldSebastian Huber2016-03-291-9/+5
| | | | | | | | | Remove the Thread_queue_Queue::operations field to reduce the size of this structure. Add a thread queue operations parameter to the _Thread_queue_First(), _Thread_queue_First_locked(), _Thread_queue_Enqueue(), _Thread_queue_Dequeue() and _Thread_queue_Flush() functions. This is a preparation patch to reduce the size of several synchronization objects.
* score: Multiprocessor Resource Sharing ProtocolSebastian Huber2014-05-281-3/+35
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add basic support for the Multiprocessor Resource Sharing Protocol (MrsP). The Multiprocessor Resource Sharing Protocol (MrsP) is defined in A. Burns and A.J. Wellings, A Schedulability Compatible Multiprocessor Resource Sharing Protocol - MrsP, Proceedings of the 25th Euromicro Conference on Real-Time Systems (ECRTS 2013), July 2013. It is a generalization of the Priority Ceiling Protocol to SMP systems. Each MrsP semaphore uses a ceiling priority per scheduler instance. These ceiling priorities can be specified with rtems_semaphore_set_priority(). A task obtaining or owning a MrsP semaphore will execute with the ceiling priority for its scheduler instance as specified by the MrsP semaphore object. Tasks waiting to get ownership of a MrsP semaphore will not relinquish the processor voluntarily. In case the owner of a MrsP semaphore gets preempted it can ask all tasks waiting for this semaphore to help out and temporarily borrow the right to execute on one of their assigned processors. The help out feature is not implemented with this patch.
* score: Delete CORE_mutex_Control::lockSebastian Huber2014-03-311-1/+1
| | | | | | | | The holder field is enough to determine if a mutex is locked or not. This leads also to better error status codes in case a rtems_semaphore_release() is done for a mutex without having the ownership.
* score: PR2152: Use allocator mutex for objectsSebastian Huber2014-03-311-7/+5
| | | | | Use allocator mutex for objects allocate/free. This prevents that the thread dispatch latency depends on the workspace/heap fragmentation.
