* score: Simplify thread wait state handlingSebastian Huber2021-11-231-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Remove the THREAD_WAIT_STATE_READY_AGAIN and simply use the initial value to indicate that a thread does not wait on something. Rename THREAD_WAIT_FLAGS_INITIAL to THREAD_WAIT_STATE_READY. This change is necessary so that _Thread_Continue() can be called for threads which never waited on something (for example dormant threads). Update #4546.
* rtems: Fix rate monotonic statisticsSebastian Huber2021-10-251-17/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The rate monotonic period statistics were affected by rtems_cpu_usage_reset(). The logic to detect and work around a CPU usage reset was broken. The Thread_Contol::cpu_time_used is changed to contain the processor time used throughout the entire lifetime of the thread. The new member Thread_Contol::cpu_time_used_at_last_reset is added to contain the processor time used at the time of the last reset through rtems_cpu_usage_reset(). This decouples the resets of the CPU usage and the rate monotonic period statistics. Update #4528.
* rtems: Set postponed jobs in rate-monotonic cancelSebastian Huber2021-10-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Set the postponed jobs count to zero in rtems_rate_monotonic_cancel() so that rtems_rate_monotonic_get_status() returns a consistent status for inactive periods. Update #4511.
* rtems: Canonicalize Doxygen @file commentsSebastian Huber2020-12-021-3/+5
| | | | | | Use common phrases for the file brief descriptions. Update #3706.
* Canonicalize config.h includeSebastian Huber2020-04-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Use the following variant which was already used by most source files: #ifdef HAVE_CONFIG_H #include "config.h" #endif
* Use _Thread_Dispatch_direct()Sebastian Huber2018-02-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | Use _Thread_Dispatch_direct() for operations that block the executing thread. This ensures that we get a fatal error (INTERNAL_ERROR_BAD_THREAD_DISPATCH_DISABLE_LEVEL) if we try to block in an invalid context, e.g. during system start or an interrupt handler.
* score: Rename _Watchdog_Per_CPU_insert_monotonic()Sebastian Huber2017-10-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Rename _Watchdog_Per_CPU_insert_monotonic() in _Watchdog_Per_CPU_insert_ticks(). Update #3117. Update #3182.
* score: Rename watchdog variantsSebastian Huber2017-10-171-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Rename PER_CPU_WATCHDOG_RELATIVE in PER_CPU_WATCHDOG_MONOTONIC to highlight the corresponding POSIX CLOCK_MONOTONIC. Rename PER_CPU_WATCHDOG_ABSOLUTE in PER_CPU_WATCHDOG_REALTIME to highlight the corresponding POSIX CLOCK_REALTIME. Update #3117. Update #3182.
* Remove rtems_rate_monotonic_postponed_job_count()Kuan-Hsun Chen2017-01-261-14/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Add a variable named "count" in rtems_rate_monotonic_period_status structure. Revise rtems_rate_monotonic_get_status() for the postponed job count. sptests/sp69: Add in the verification of the postponed job count for rtems_rate_monotonic_get_status(). Update #2795.

* rtems: Fix _Rate_monotonic_Release_postponed_job()Sebastian Huber2017-01-241-5/+3
| | | | | | Use proper locking in SMP configurations. Update #2795.
* rtems: Fix _Rate_monotonic_Renew_deadline()Sebastian Huber2017-01-241-24/+0
| | | | | | | Make _Rate_monotonic_Renew_deadline() static and use proper locking in SMP configurations. Update #2795.
* classic: adjust names of RM postponed job functionsGedare Bloom2017-01-131-7/+12

* Enhancement of the RMS manager for the overrun handling.Kuan-Hsun Chen2017-01-131-8/+120
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Three additional functions: rtems_rate_monotonic_postponed_job_count, _Rate_monotonic_Renew_deadline, and _Rate_monotonic_Release_postponed_job. Four refined functions: _Rate_monotonic_Activate, _Rate_monotonic_Block_while_expired, rtems_rate_monotonic_period, _Rate_monotonic_Timeout. Rate_monotonic_Control contains one counter for counting the postponed jobs and one for recording the recent deadline. Update #2795.
* score: Rework thread priority managementSebastian Huber2016-09-211-5/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add priority nodes which contribute to the overall thread priority. The actual priority of a thread is now an aggregation of priority nodes. The thread priority aggregation for the home scheduler instance of a thread consists of at least one priority node, which is normally the real priority of the thread. The locking protocols (e.g. priority ceiling and priority inheritance), rate-monotonic period objects and the POSIX sporadic server add, change and remove priority nodes. A thread changes its priority now immediately, e.g. priority changes are not deferred until the thread releases its last resource. Replace the _Thread_Change_priority() function with * _Thread_Priority_perform_actions(), * _Thread_Priority_add(), * _Thread_Priority_remove(), * _Thread_Priority_change(), and * _Thread_Priority_update(). Update #2412. Update #2556.
* score: Fix a release/cancel job race conditionSebastian Huber2016-08-041-9/+8
| | | | | | | | Split up the potential thread priority change in the scheduler release/cancel job operation. Protect the rate monotonic period state with a dedicated SMP lock. This avoids a race condition during _Rate_monotonic_Timeout() while _Rate_monotonic_Cancel() is called on another processor.
* score: Avoid atomic fences for thread wait flagsSebastian Huber2016-06-301-1/+1
| | | | | The use of atomic fences is brittle and may break due to changes in different areas which is hard to manage.
* score: Modify release job scheduler operationSebastian Huber2016-06-221-3/+4
| | | | | | Pass the deadline in watchdog ticks to the scheduler. Update #2173.
* rtems: Rework rate-monotonic schedulerSebastian Huber2016-03-221-130/+180
| | | | | | | | | | Use the default thread lock to protect rate-monotonic state changes. This avoids use of the Giant lock. Split rtems_rate_monotonic_period() body into several static functions. Introduce a new thread wait class THREAD_WAIT_CLASS_PERIOD for period objects to synchronize the blocking operation. Close #2631.
* rtems: Avoid __RTEMS_USE_TICKS_FOR_STATISTICS__Sebastian Huber2016-03-211-35/+10
| | | | Option was removed by e6b31b27fbe3cd76534db2d4fc4ef5dcdf0d33b4.
* rtems: Delete Rate_monotonic_Period_time_tSebastian Huber2016-03-211-7/+7
| | | | Variables with this type directly used the _Timestamp_*() functions.
* score: Fix CPU time used by executing threadsSebastian Huber2016-03-171-55/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The CPU time used of a thread was previously maintained per-processor mostly during _Thread_Dispatch(). However, on SMP configurations the actual processor of a thread is difficult to figure out since thread dispatching is a highly asynchronous process (e.g. via inter-processor interrupts). Only the intended processor of a thread is known to the scheduler easily. Do the CPU usage accounting during thread heir updates in the context of the scheduler operations. Provide the function _Thread_Get_CPU_time_used() to get the CPU usage of a thread using proper locks to get a consistent value. Close #2627.
* score: Replace watchdog handler implementationSebastian Huber2016-03-041-20/+18
| | | | | | | | | Use a red-black tree instead of delta chains. Close #2344. Update #2554. Update #2555. Close #2606.
* score: Delete Thread_CPU_usage_tSebastian Huber2016-03-011-4/+4
| | | | | This type is superfluous since all operations with it are done via the _Timestamp_*() functions.
* rtems: Avoid __RTEMS_USE_TICKS_FOR_STATISTICS__Sebastian Huber2016-02-251-30/+16
| | | | Option was removed by e6b31b27fbe3cd76534db2d4fc4ef5dcdf0d33b4.
* Remove use ticks for statistics configure option.Joel Sherrill2015-06-151-45/+28
| | | | | | | | | | This was obsolete and broken based upon recent time keeping changes. Thie build option was previously enabled by adding USE_TICKS_FOR_STATISTICS=1 to the configure command line. This propagated into the code as preprocessor conditionals using the __RTEMS_USE_TICKS_FOR_STATISTICS__ conditional.
* score: Remove scheduler parameter from most opsSebastian Huber2014-06-231-10/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove the scheduler parameter from most high level scheduler operations like - _Scheduler_Block(), - _Scheduler_Unblock(), - _Scheduler_Change_priority(), - _Scheduler_Update_priority(), - _Scheduler_Release_job(), and - _Scheduler_Yield(). This simplifies the scheduler operations usage.
* score: Add scheduler control to scheduler opsSebastian Huber2014-04-041-2/+10
| | | | | Scheduler operations must be free of a global scheduler context to enable partitioned/clustered scheduling.

* score: Add and use _Objects_Put()Sebastian Huber2013-06-071-5/+5
| | | | | | Add and use _Objects_Put_without_thread_dispatch(). These two functions pair with the _Objects_Get() function. This helps to introduce object specific SMP locks to avoid lock contention.
