According to the datasheet, the reading of the interrupt vector register (AIC_IVR) notifies the hardware that the OS is taken care of the interrupt. Only after AIC_IVR have been read can the correct source number be read from the interrupt status register (AIC_ISR).

By bypassing the public API and directly accessing _CPU_ISR_Disable and _CPU_ISR_Enable, they were bypassing the compiler memory barrier directive which could lead to problems. This patch also changes the type of the variable passed into these routines and addresses minor style issues.
