Close #4081.

This AC_CONFIG_SRCDIR() is just a sanity check in this insane build
system. Since all content of
c/src/lib/libbsp/@RTEMS_CPU@/@RTEMS_BSP_FAMILY@ is bound to be moved it
makes no sense to keep it.
This patch is a part of the BSP source reorganization.
Update #3285.

The subdir-objects do not work currently due to BSP sources in bsps and
c and the existing build tree layout.
Update #3387.

This option silences warning with automake-1.16.1 allowing us to
upgrade to that version.
This change has been tested with automake-1.12.6 and automake-1.16.1.
It seems version 1.16.1 configures slower than 1.12.6 for the same
source and BSP. The newer versions is 6 second slower.
Close #3387.

Provide HAS_NETWORKING and HAS_SMP Automake conditionals for all BSPs.

A speciality of the RTEMS build system was the make preinstall step. It
copied header files from arbitrary locations into the build tree. The
header files were included via the -Bsome/build/tree/path GCC command
line option.
This has at least seven problems:
* The make preinstall step itself needs time and disk space.
* Errors in header files show up in the build tree copy. This makes it
hard for editors to open the right file to fix the error.
* There is no clear relationship between source and build tree header
files. This makes an audit of the build process difficult.
* The visibility of all header files in the build tree makes it
difficult to enforce API barriers. For example it is discouraged to
use BSP-specifics in the cpukit.
* An introduction of a new build system is difficult.
* Include paths specified by the -B option are system headers. This
may suppress warnings.
* The parallel build had sporadic failures on some hosts.
This patch removes the make preinstall step. All installed header
files are moved to dedicated include directories in the source tree.
Let @RTEMS_CPU@ be the target architecture, e.g. arm, powerpc, sparc,
etc. Let @RTEMS_BSP_FAMILIY@ be a BSP family base directory, e.g.
erc32, imx, qoriq, etc.
The new cpukit include directories are:
* cpukit/include
* cpukit/score/cpu/@RTEMS_CPU@/include
* cpukit/libnetworking
The new BSP include directories are:
* bsps/include
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/include
* bsps/@RTEMS_CPU@/@RTEMS_BSP_FAMILIY@/include
There are build tree include directories for generated files.
The include directory order favours the most general header file, e.g.
it is not possible to override general header files via the include path
order.
The "bootstrap -p" option was removed. The new "bootstrap -H" option
should be used to regenerate the "headers.am" files.

Updates #3250.

Remove BSP-specific defaults for RTEMS_BSP_CLEANUP_OPTIONS to simplify
the BSP configuration and documentation. Change defaults to:
BSP_PRESS_KEY_FOR_RESET=0
BSP_RESET_BOARD_AT_EXIT=1
BSP_PRINT_EXCEPTION_CONTEXT=1
|
|
closes #2810.
|
|
|
|
Now that a SPARC fatal handler is defined, we no longer
need the BSP specific reset routine.
|
|
The Fatal_halt handler now have two options, either halt
as before or enter system error state to return to
debugger or simulator. The exit-code is now also
propagated to the debugger which is very useful for
testing.
The CPU_Fatal_halt handler was split up into two, since
the only the LEON3 support the CPU power down.
The LEON3 halt now uses the power-down instruction to save
CPU power. This doesn't stop a potential watch-dog timer
from expiring.

Add CPU port type CPU_Exception_frame and function
_CPU_Exception_frame_print().
The CPU ports of avr, bfin, h8300, lm32, m32c, m32r, m68k, nios2, sh,
sparc64, and v850 use an empty default implementation of
_CPU_Exception_frame_print().
Add rtems_exception_frame and rtems_exception_frame_print().
Add RTEMS_FATAL_SOURCE_EXCEPTION for CPU exceptions. Use rtems_fatal()
with source RTEMS_FATAL_SOURCE_EXCEPTION in CPU ports of i386, powerpc,
and sparc for unexpected exceptions.
Add third parameter to RTEMS_BSP_CLEANUP_OPTIONS() which controls the
BSP_PRINT_EXCEPTION_CONTEXT define used in the default
bsp_fatal_extension().
Add test sptests/spfatal26.

* Makefile.am, configure.ac: runtest for this BSP obsoleted by

PR 1729/cpukit
* Makefile.am, configure.ac: Add next step in SMP support. This adds an
allocated array of the Per_CPU structures to support multiple cpus vs
a single instance of the structure which is still used if SMP support
is disabled. Configuration support is also added to explicitly enable
or disable SMP. But SMP can only be enabled for the CPUs which will
support it initially -- SPARC and i386. With the stub BSP support, a
BSP can be run as a single core SMP system from an RTEMS data
structure standpoint.
|
|
* configure.ac: Require autoconf-2.68, automake-1.11.1.
|
|
* configure.ac: Remove AC_CHECK_SIZEOF([void *]).
|
|
* configure.ac: Added AC_CHECK_SIZEOF macro.
|
|
|
|
* configure.ac: Don't add -ansi -fasm to CFLAGS.
|
|
* configure.ac: Remove RTEMS_BSP_BOOTCARD_OPTIONS.
|
|
* configure.ac: Rename BSP_BOOTCARD_OPTIONS to
RTEMS_BSP_BOOTCARD_OPTIONS. Add RTEMS_BSP_CLEANUP_OPTIONS so all BSPs
have the same options.
|
|
* configure.ac: Make letting boot_card() handle work area allocation
mandatory. Rename RTEMS_BSP_BOOTCARD_HANDLES_RAM_ALLOCATION to
BSP_BOOTCARD_OPTIONS.
|
|
* Makefile.am, configure.ac: Add capability for bootcard.c BSP
Initialization Framework to ask the BSP where it has memory for the
RTEMS Workspace and C Program Heap. These collectively are referred
to as work area. If the BSP supports this, then it does not have to
include code to split the available memory between the two areas.
This reduces the amount of code in the BSP specific bspstart.c file.
Additionally, the shared framework can initialize the C Library, call
rtems_debug_enable(), and dirty the work area memory. Until most/all
BSPs support this new capability, if the BSP supports this, it should
call RTEMS_BSP_BOOTCARD_HANDLES_RAM_ALLOCATION from its configure.ac.
When the transition is complete, this autoconf macro can be removed.
