* Port of RTEMS to the Texas Instruments C3x/C4x DSP families includingJoel Sherrill2000-07-261-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | a BSP (c4xsim) supporting the simulator included with gdb. This port was done by Joel Sherrill and Jennifer Averett of OAR Corporation. Also included with this port is a space/time optimization to eliminate FP context switch management on CPUs without hardware or software FP. An issue with this port was that sizeof(unsigned32) = sizeof(unsigned8) on this CPU. This required addressing alignment checks and assumptions as well as fixing code that assumed sizeof(unsigned32) == 4.
* Patch rtems-rc-20000711-1-cvs.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>Joel Sherrill2000-07-111-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | that decouples exec/ for the sh, m68k and i960 from targopts.h. NOTE: The change to system.h is a hack to enable cpuopts.h for some targets, but keep using targopts.h for others - I know it does *not* work for sparc, mips, i386 and ppc. This will have to be addressed as work continues on multilibing.
* Patch rtems-rc-20000708-1.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>Joel Sherrill2000-07-101-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | that is another small step toward multilibs: Changes: * Eliminate RTEMS_CHECK_CUSTOM_BSP from all configure.ins below exec/ * Add RTEMS_CHECK_CUSTOM_BSP to the multilib-disabled branch in RTEMS_ENV_RTEMSCPU to preserve the old per-BSP building scheme functional. Notes: * --enable-multilibs is still non-functional * This patch should not have any influence on the old building scheme (--disable-multilib should silently fall back to the old building scheme). * running ./bootstrap is required after applying the patch
* Patch rtems-rc-20000705-3.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>Joel Sherrill2000-07-061-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | that is a somewhat experimental, multilib-related patch: Changes: * Use RTEMS_ENV_RTEMSCPU instead of RTEMS_ENV_RTEMSBSP in configure.ins below exec/. At the moment, RTEMS_ENV_RTEMSCPU is more or less an optical change to emphasize that these subdirectories shall not depend on RTEMS_BSP than a real behavioral change. * Add AC_DEFINE_* to several aclocal/*.m4 macros to prepare autoheader/autoconf generated targopts.h and similiar configuration headers. * c/src/configure.in: remove exec from cfg_subdirs if multilibs are enabled (c/src is build per bsp, exec shall be build per cpu in c/ or from the toplevel in future, when multilibs are enabled.) Notes: * This patch should not have any impact on the current building scheme. * --enable-multilib still does not work. * running bootstrap from the toplevel directory is required. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de> that migrates the SH port to multilib'ing. This patch involved moving a number of files in the CVS repository, adding new files, and deleting files from their previous location. Ralf gave good instructions (not repeated here) and here are his notes: Note 1: In this version, I did not change the installation points of the headers which are moved inside of the source-tree. This is a temporary hack for not breaking compatibility with 4.5 based BSPs, but will probably not last once having real multilibs (We would have include file conflicts when several BSPs/CPU_MODELS share a common installation prefix). Note 2: I hope not to have broken too much, but I would not be astonished if something goes wrong. Note 3: There are more patches to come :)

* Patches rtems-rc-20000204-0.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>Joel Sherrill2000-02-081-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | that contains: * Removes remaining (now illegal) references to $(SRC) from a couple of Makefile.ams * Removes duplicate AC_CONFIG_SUBDIRS macro from c/configure.in * Moves ENABLE_LIBCDIR into RTEMS_PROG_C[C|XX]_FOR_TARGET (hides LIBCDIR from most configure scripts, i.e. LIBCDIR becomes less visible) * Adds RTEMS_PROG_C[C|XX]_FOR_TARGET and RTEMS_CANONICALIZE_TOOLS to libbsp/*/configure.ins (A minor bug in previous implementations, which only has an impact when switching to GNU/Cygnus canonicalization) * Cleans up several bogus comments. * Removes MKLIB * Switches the version number to 4.5.0 (for testing version number handling)
* Patches rtems-rc-20000118-3.diff and rtems-rc-20000118-4.diff fromJoel Sherrill2000-01-311-18/+12
| | | | | | | | | | Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de> that contain: * Modifications, (minor) corrections, cleanups to most existing Makefile.ams * Adds automake support to all remaining BSPs which have not yet been converted to automake. * Makefile.am for all remaining wrapup/Makefile.ams
* Patch rtems-rc-20000118-1.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>Joel Sherrill2000-01-311-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | that contains: * cleanups to configuration files * A reworked gccnewlib.spec.in: I have reformated it for enhanced readability and added more rtems-base packages. It now should be free of any installation conflicts (If there still remain some, they should be regarded as bugs). * A fix to the bin2boot RTEMS_BSP issue (make RTEMS_BSP="pc386 pc486" now works). * removes libbsp/bare/wrapup * Further cleanups
* Removing unused file accidentally left in CVS. Discovered byJoel Sherrill2000-01-231-90/+0

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>: The patch below provides * automake support for score/cpu/powerpc * The hack to propagate values from *.cfg to automake configuration * A fix for librdbg/powerpc/mcp750/Makefile.am (Was completely corrupted before) * Fixes some files which apparently where missing in rtems-rc-19991123-rc-2.diff * some minor configuration related patches To apply: rm -rf ./c/src/exec/score/cpu/powerpc/wrap patch -p1 < rtems-rc-19991123-rc-3.diff Attention: c/src/exec/score/cpu/[configure.in|aclocal.m4|configure] should be removed after applying the patch. Modifications had been made to the score/cpu/powerpc directory after the snapshot this was based on. In particular, the mpc750 and other_cpu directories had been renamed to new_exception_processing and old_exception_processing. After this patch was applied, modifications were made to account for this.

* Patch rtems-rc-19991117-4.diff from Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>:Joel Sherrill1999-11-222-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | .. a major configuration cleanup ... major enhancement of automake support. ... and it contains a *major* breakthough: Automake support for libchip and libmisc *LEAF* directories. To implement this I have used several nasty tricks * The basical trick is to wrap an old Makefile.in's contents into a Makefile.am and still continue to use (i.e include) the old *.cfg files. * Replaced each INSTALL_IF_CHANGE and INSTALL_VARIANT with make dependencies * Add a gnu-make ifdef AUTOMAKE to main.cfg to avoid conflicts between automake and RTEMS make rules * Replaced each install:: and preinstall:: rule with make dependencies * Replaced SUB_DIRS with SUBDIRS in all Makefile.ins (Automake convention) * Removed each manually added autoconf substitution which automake performs automatically. This is not yet full automake support, because using the temporary installation directory, preinstallation in general and building variants are in contradiction to automake's basic working principles ... ... the new Makefile.ams work still somewhat clumsy ... nevertheless they work (quite well). WARNING: At first glance this patch is small, but * it affects the whole configuration system. * it opens the road to introducing automake to all Makefile.ins currently not being under automake control. JOEL> Does this remove or add any files? Both, all Makefile.ins below libchip and libmisc get replaced with Makefile.ams.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de> that adds initial Hitachi SH-2 support to RTEMS. Ralf's comments are: Changes: ------ 1. SH-Port: * Many files renamed. * CONSOLE_DEVNAME and MHZ defines removed from libcpu. * console.c moved to libbsp/sh/shared, build in libbsp/sh/<BSP>/console applying VPATH. * CONSOLE_DEVNAME made BSP-specific, replacement is defined in bsp.h * MHZ define replaced with HZ (extendent resolution) in custom/*.cfg * -DHZ=HZ used in bspstart.c, only * Makefile variable HZ used in bsp-dependent directories only. 2. SH1-Port * clock-driver rewritten to provide better resolution for odd CPU frequencies. This driver is only partially tested on hardware, ie. sightly experimental, but I don't expect severe problems with it. * Polling SCI-driver added. This driver is experimental and completly untested yet. Therefore it is not yet used for the console (/dev/console is still pointing to /dev/null, cf. gensh1/bsp.h). * minor changes to the timer driver * SH1 specific delay()/CPU_delay() now is implemented as a function 3. SH2-Port * Merged * IMO, the code is still in its infancy. Therefore I have interspersed comments (FIXME) it for items which I think John should look after. * sci and console drivers partially rewritten and extended (John, I hope you don't mind). * Copyright notices are not yet adapted
* This is another pass at making sure that nothing outside the BSPJoel Sherrill1999-11-051-0/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | unnecessarily uses any variables defined by the BSP. On this sweep, use of BSP_Configuration and Cpu_table was eliminated. A significant part of this modification was the addition of macros to access fields in the RTEMS configuration structures. This is necessary to strengthen the division between the BSP independent parts of RTEMS and the BSPs themselves. This started after comments and analysis by Ralf Corsepius <corsepiu@faw.uni-ulm.de>.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A bug in acpolish made it into rtems-rc-19990709-0.diff, which unfortunately affects all Makefile.ins: * The maintainer mode conditional was erroniously applied to the dependencies of "Makefile". In case you already checked in rtems-rc-19990709-0.diff to CVS you have to check in all Makefile.ins again after applying the patch below :). Please apply the patch below as follows: patch -p1 < rtems-rc-19990709-1.diff tools/update/rtems-polish.sh -ac Note: There is no need to rerun your tests if you have used --enable-maintainer-mode to configure RTEMS, because this patch converts all Makefile.ins to the same settings as used for --enable-maintainer-mode.
